Former Iowa official Mills defends role
Former University of Iowa General Counsel Marc Mills says he didn't supervise a much maligned sexual assault investigation involving two former University of Iowa football players.
According to documents released by the University of Iowa on Friday, Mills also defended his actions during the inquiry.
The documents are Mills' 12-page response to a report conducted by St. Louis-based law firm the Stolar Partnership.
The report was strongly critical of Mills and former Vice President for Student Services Phillip Jones. Both were fired on Tuesday by University of Iowa President Sally Mason.
The report examined Iowa's handling of a sexual assault investigation involving former Hawkeye football players Abe Satterfield and Cedric Everson. They are scheduled to stand trial Nov. 3.
